The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science has an exhibit of the animatronic characters of the movies. Notables are Gizmo from Gremlins, Johnny-5 from Short Circuit, Dr. Octavius from Spiderman 2 and many many more. The exhibit shows off the way these animatronics are put together and operated so as to explain the mysteries of movie making and to give inspiration to future Spielbergs out there.
